BLACKWATER USA MEMORIAL DEDICATION
This memorial is dedicated to the courage and honor of our fallen teammates.
Their dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten. May God bless them and their families.
"These Blackwater contractors were supporting the State Department mission in Iraq,
and were critical to our efforts to protect American diplomats there. They served their nation
with great pride and distinction, and we will always remember them for their bravery, commitment,
and their ultimate sacrifice."
Acting Assistant Secretary Joe D. Morton, April 22, 2005
"We live in a world that gets smaller each day; inescapably, there are clashes between cultures
and value systems. Tragedies that went unnoticed and undetected 10-20 years ago are daily brought
to the world via CNN and the Internet. And now that we are aware of the many travesties of justice
in the world, those of us who enjoy freedom and democracy are now called to help share it with
the world. This call demands action, and brave warriors such as the one's we honor here today
are the ones who selflessly answer that call.
These men made a difference in the world through their service to our Nation both in uniform and
out and it is that sort of individual commitment, mostly out of the spotlight, that makes our
country as wonderful as it is, and provides hope to those who still live in desperate times.
What is left for us to do? We mourn for our fallen warriors, yes... But we fail them if we do not
choose today to emulate their courage, strength of conviction, and compassion for other human beings.
I would ask you today to do just that; resolve to practice the same selfless commitment our fallen
warriors demonstrated; keep their spirit alive in you and in all that you do, and spread it to others.
In doing that, we honorably remember them and continue their acceptance of the call to action."
Chris Taylor, Vice-President of Strategic Initiatives, July 9, 2005
