Tactical Weekly
Readers;
Well it has been another great week. I heard from some former teammates who saw my name at
the bottom of this section and dropped me a line. It is always great to hear from them and learn
what they are up to. I am always amazed at what a diverse group frogmen are, and how they turn
the energy and dedication that they displayed in the military into successful civilian careers.
More bad news from our southern border. Like a lot of governments worldwide, the Mexican
government is experiencing difficulties protecting its citizens from criminal elements and
sometimes just providing basic services. We think this is creating an opportunity for the private
sector and Global Stability Companies like Blackwater.
Good news in our Breaking News and Security for the Professional as the military gets better through
cooperation and new gear acquisition. Let us hope the trends continue as we move forward in
GWOT.
On another note, our breaking news section looks at the problems we are experiencing on our southern border. Issues ranging from illegal immigration to narcotics and gang warfare.
Remember to keep your powder dry, and your blades sharp.

environmental threat.
The latest battle in the war on illegal immigration isn't over the smuggling of undocumented
workers, it's over the trash they leave behind.

Greater interoperability between regular forces and SOF is leading to a greater
understanding of SOF roles, missions and capabilities.
The nature of the war in Iraq has tightened the working relationship between regular U.S.

Tactical Equipment Evaluation
AmbiCom GPS Receiver
Let me start out by saying I am not an electronics and technology kind of guy. If it needs batteries then they will die when you need something to work the most. If it's electric and "water proof" the seals will break when you least expect it - and at the most inopportune time. With that said, there are times when I'd love to be able to climb into any vehicle and know that I had a functioning GPS system. Sure, there are some high dollar tools that will do that, but now, with my laptop and the GPS Navigation Receiver from AmbiCom I can do that with any vehicle I get into any time I need to.

A Nite Watch
No; we're not talking about a "night watch" as in the guy who walks around punching a clock at various locations. When I was at SHOT Show I saw a booth for the NITE Watch company. I had never heard of them so I picked up some of their printed material. Interesting looking watches that were new (to me) on the market. Before I would consider them for serious field use I would have to test one. The reps didn't seem warmly open to the idea. But when Brigade Quartermasters started carrying the NITE Watch line, I took it as a hint that the watches might be worth a look. Thanks to the good folks at BQ I requested and received a T&E NITE watch and promptly began to wear it 24/7 in all conditions. Here's what I found out about my test sample and the NITE Watch line.

The well of inspiration is not flowing. It is dammed up by a week of fighting to breathe and function. The other was the wedding of a Peace Keeper and his lovely Bride who works in support services.

Good Fats and Bad Fats

Great overview of fats in our diet, which we all need, and how to identify and choose
between good and bad fats.
The fact is: we all need fats. Fats helps nutrient absorption, nerve transmission, maintaining
cell membrane integrity etc. However, when consumed in excess amount, fats contribute to
weight gain, heart disease and certain types of cancer. Fats are not created equal. Some fats
promote our health positively while other increase our risks of heart disease. The key is to
replace bad fats with good fats in our diet.
