Readers; Greetings and welcome to another Blackwater Tactical Weekly.
As the Presidential campaigns progress, we will cover those issues that affect our industry, from private security contractors to first responders. This week please read about a proposed bill that would limit the use of private security contractors overseas.
Also please keep the suggestions coming. We received a link to
an interesting article about innovative exoskeleton systems, which
you will find in this week's issue.
Lastly, thanks also for the dozens of e-mails expressing their continued support of our company and industry. It's nice to know you guys are out there. It's important to let our leaders know how you feel, and this year you have the perfect opportunity by participating in the electoral process. Remember to study the issues and go out and vote. Lots of Americans have paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can have the freedom to participate in the democratic process.

Tactical Equipment Evaluation
Improvising With Zip-Ties
When I first went in the Army everything was held together with ALICE clips. A large improvement came in with the Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE). A number of manufacturers now make a collection of pouches and other equipment that mounts via the MOLLE system. But what happens when you want to mount something to a platform and one or the other isn't MOLLE compatible? The answer I've found works quite often is zip-ties. As simple as it may sound, using these handy plastic strips to custom build your kit isn't always a simple thing.

Recreational Equipment Review
Airsoft For Fun & Training
I remember, at the grand old age of ten, running around the woods with a BB gun (that my parents didn't know I had) wearing heavy clothing and a football helmet playing “war” with my friends. BBs hurt. Thankfully none of us ever got shot with a penetrating BB. We did sport some good bruises though. We showed them off with pride. These days there is another option: Airsoft. Not only are these “toys” excellent for pure enjoyment of shooting, but they can also serve as training tools for teaching tactics or, more important in the recreational world, safe weapon handling.
