LABOR...

"A Nationwide Holiday"

"The form that the observance and celebration of Labor Day should take
were outlined in the first proposal of the holiday -- a street parade to
exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations"
of the community, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of
the workers and their families. This became the pattern for the celebrations of
Labor Day. Speeches by prominent men and women were introduced later, as more
emphasis was placed upon the economic and civic significance of the
holiday. Still later, by a resolution of the American Federation of Labor convention of 1909, the
Sunday proceeding Labor Day was adopted as Labor Sunday and dedicated to the
spiritual and educational aspects of the labor movement.

The character of the Labor Day celebration has undergone a change in
recent years, especially in large industrial centers where mass displays and huge
parades have proved a problem. This change, however, is more a shift in emphasis and
medium of expression. Labor Day addresses by leading union officials,
industrialists, educators, clerics and government officials are given wide coverage in
newspapers, radio, and television.

The vital force of labor added materially to the highest standard of
living and the greatest production the world has ever known and has brought us closer
to the realization of our traditional ideals of economic and political
democracy. It is appropriate, therefore, that the nation pay tribute on Labor Day to the
creator of so much of the nation's strength, freedom, and leadership -- the American
worker."

And it is the Peace Keeper who has given labor and government the
opportunity and the power to be able to build and prosper. Without the Peace
Keeper... none of the world as we know it today could ever have been built or
maintained.

No one group has labored harder, nor sacrificed more, than the Peace
Keepers to give citizens the right and opportunity for life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness! No matter what the project being considered or attempted from fortified
installations to transportation... when conflict and threatened danger arose... it was
the Peace Keeper who responded to make the work environment safe for the laborer
to do the building.

These Peace Keepers came in all varieties...
Militia - volunteers who protected the group...
Sailors - the bringers of the first explorer/citizens from Europe... Law
enforcement - the ones who enforced the rules made by the rest of the
group...
Each of these groups were eventually followed by professionals in each
category who were hired and paid to be the Peace Keepers.

As settlements progressed, the colony was established and prosperity
came. With prosperity came the King's army and navy. With their presence came
abuse and taxes. With abuse and taxes came unrest of those who worked so hard to
establish the colonies. With unrest came revolution. From the revolution came a
new nation established upon the feats of those who fought the rule of the king and
won the freedom to determine their own destinies, individually and collectively.

In every phase of the development of this nation from idea to
implementation... it has been the Peace Keeper, whether volunteer or professional, that has
made it all possible... possible even for those who did not and do not believe in
war and violence. All liberties have been secured by those who were willing to
fight for them, resist tyranny by whatever means necessary... and die for those
liberties when they could be won no other way... in order that those liberties be secured
for themselves and for any other citizens who came along after them.

So today we celebrate the laborer who did the building of all of the
physical structure of this nation. Today we give to those laborers, past and present, our
thanks and appreciation for what we have and enjoy in this great nation of the
United States of America... and while we are taking a day to celebrate and enjoy the last
holiday of the summer season... there will be multiplied thousands of Peace Keepers
working to see that all of the celebrations are accomplished in as safe a manner
as possible. Without these Peace Keepers we could not move about and have these
celebrations... unless some from among the laborers were willing to arm
themselves and stand watch to see to the safety of the celebrants... then they
would be Peace Keepers. This would be true even if the ones watching out for the
keeping of peace were the leaders of the smallest units of our society... the fathers and
mothers of families.

By the very nature of the human being we have learned that very few
large, and sometimes small, gatherings of people can be safely conducted without
someone being responsible for safety and security. That was how Peace Keeping
as we know it was born into being in the early days of human society... and
why it is still necessary today.

As you read this I will be using my Labor Day to rest from the weekend
of duty doing the very things that peace keeping is all about... but I will
begin even my resting... I will begin that day as I begin almost all others unless I
begin the day with an emergency call... I will be meditating and praying for all of our
Peace Keepers at home and wherever else they are... that they receive strength, health,
peace, power, protection, provision, prosperity and the greatest of blessing... as
they go through their day and whatever their duty... whether laboring or resting. They
are my assignment from my Commander-in-Chief and I am so glad that they are. I
am also blessed to the point of exceeding happiness to know many Peace Keepers
and to be among them for most of my life .

Peace Keepers... thank you... Eternally thank you for your service to
all the rest of us. My Commander-in-chief and I do so very greatly appreciate your
dedication and your service.

"BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!" Take the very best of care of you... every part
of your life... no matter where you are. Take special care of your spiritual
life for you need it to be strong so that you may serve at your best and survive the demands
upon you. If you should ever need any assistance with spiritual concerns you may
contact me and I will do my best to assist you.

As it has always been... so it still is...

"VICTORIOUS WARRIORS WIN FIRST...
AND THEN GO TO WAR,
WHILE DEFEATED WARRIORS GO TO WAR FIRST...
AND THEN SEEK TO WIN." Sun tzu

ONLY LIVE PEACE KEEPERS SEE THE VICTORY!!!
THEY SEE IT ONLY BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE MADE THEIR ETERNAL
PAYMENTS OF SWEAT, BLOOD, TEARS AND LIFE FOR THAT VICTORY!

WITH THE DEEPEST OF APPRECIATION AND RESPECT...
BE BLESSED (A CONDITION TO BE ENVIED)...
BE SUCCESSFUL... BE SAFE...
[My injunction to be safe means doing all you know to do as you do your
job... it means doing the best you can with what you have where you are using all your
faculties to get the job done well and with good results conquering evil and keeping or
restoring peace... it does not mean to avoid duty and honor... it does not mean to cower or
allow anything to hinder you in the process of duty according to rules, law and
ethics... it means that if the demand takes your earthly life you destroy as much evil as possible
in the process. That is my definition of being safe... doing the best you can and
leaving the rest to God or whomever else is responsible... being best employed for the sake and
protection of all the things and people that we hold dear.]

I represent, write for... and give the credit to:
God the Father (my Commander-in-Chief),
Jesus Christ the Son (the Eternal Captain of my life) and
the Holy Spirit of God (my Eternal Teacher, Keeper and Guide).
In Christ I live... with Him and for you I serve...
