Why the U.S. Navy is Creating a New Marine CorpsThe U.S. Navy feels it is in need of more "soldiers of the sea." But since the U.S. Navy has lost control of the U.S. Marine Corps, the navy is assembling a new force of sailors serving as naval infantry. This is not really new. For example, the toughest troops in the Navy Department are not the marines, but the sailors who belong to the SEALs, an organization formed in the 1960s. But the process of regenerating the American naval infantry is accelerating. There was a time, not too long ago, when the marines where what marines had always been, soldiers who belonged to the navy and served on ships. But since World War II, the U.S. Marine Corps have developed into a truly separate force, no longer available to the navy.http://www.strategypage.com/dls/articles/20058223758.asp U.S. Launches Attacks in Western Iraq About 1,000 U.S. Marines and Iraqi forces launched attacks in western Iraq in an operation aimed at disrupting insurgents and foreign fighters in the Euphrates River valley, the U.S. military said Friday. The operation, dubbed Quick Strike, began Wednesday with Iraqi soldiers and Marines positioning their units, said a military statement. They focused on an area centered around the cities of Haditha, Haqlaniyah, and Parwana, about 130 miles northwest of Baghdad. http://apnews.myway.com//article/20050805/D8BPLD1O0.html

Fundamentally, we're useful idiots As the rest of Europe acts, extreme Islamists take advantage of British naivety ELEMENTS WITHIN the British establishment were notoriously sympathetic to Hitler. Today the Islamists enjoy similar support. In the 1930s it was Edward VIII, aristocrats and the Daily Mail; this time it is left-wing activists, The Guardian and sections of the BBC. They may not want a global theocracy, but they are like the West's apologists for the Soviet Union - useful idiots. Islamic radicals, like Hitler, cultivate support by nurturing grievances against others. Islamists, like Hitler, scapegoat Jews for their problems and want to destroy them. Islamists, like Hitler, decree that the punishment for homosexuality is death. Hitler divided the world into Aryans and subhuman non-Aryans, while Islamists divide the world into Muslims and sub-human infidels. Nazis aimed for their Thousand-Year Reich, while Islamists aim for their eternal Caliphate. The Nazi party used terror to achieve power, and from London to Amsterdam, Bali to New York, Egypt to Turkey, Islamists are trying to do the same. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,1072-1716156,00.html
Al-Qaeda 'blames Blair for bombs' An international organization representing the heads of police departments across the world has issued new guidelines recommending that officers who confront a suicide bomber should shoot the suspect in the head, the Washington Post reported. The recommendations by the International Association of Chiefs of Police take a more aggressive posture than typical lethal-force guidelines for police departments, the newspaper reported on its Web Site late Wednesday. It said the guidelines were published July 8 - before the London police, acting on a similar policy, on July 22 fatally shot a Brazilian electrician in the head because they mistook him for a suicide bomber. http://officer.com/article/article.jsp?siteSection=4&id=25126 Homeland Security Backs Off Idea of Civilian Border Patrol The Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday it has no plans to enlist citizens volunteers to patrol U.S. borders on the day after its top border enforcement official said he was exploring how to involve civilians in his agency's work. That refutation sought to calm reaction to a controversial idea that seemed to catch Homeland Security higher ups by surprise. http://officer.com/article/article.jsp?siteSection=8&id=24882 Border Patrol agent arrested in smuggling case Federal agents arrested a Border Patrol agent Thursday in Escondido who is suspected of being an illegal immigrant who was smuggling other illegal immigrants into the United States. Department of Homeland Security agents, assisted by Escondido police, pulled over 28-year-old Oscar Antonio Ortiz of San Diego at about 2:30 p.m. while he was driving on Valley Parkway near Interstate 15 and took him into custody, authorities said. http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2005/08/05/news/inland/21_17_498_4_05.tx |

Tactical Equipment Review:Extrema Ratio - Col Moschin Combat KnifeWhen I first saw the name of this blade, I thought it was "Col." as in the abbreviation for Colonel. Not so. Apparently, "Col" is an Italian term that means "hill" (or something similar). The site, Col Moschin, is historically significant in Italy, much as we Americans look at Iwo Jima or the Beaches at Normandy. They are places where our troops have proven themselves defenders of freedom against the worst odds. Col Moschin holds a similar value to Italian soldiers. The Col Moschin knife was specifically designed and developed for the 9th Reggimento D'Assalto Paracadutisti, nicknamed the "Col Moschin" unit and considered the elite of the Folgore brigade. What does all that mean in English? As much as I had to look it up (and me with an Italian last name) it's the 9th Parachute Assault Regiment. Now consider this: If someone was asked to design a knife for the 82nd or 101st Airborne, we'd expect it to be one heck of a knife wouldn't we? Well, the Col Moschin is. Let's take a look. A .22 caliber weapon was a given, and I felt a semi-automatic might be better than a revolver given grip sizes and angles. I came across a Walther P22 and had to take a second look.I have previous experience with the Walther P99 and its Smith & Wesson counterparts, the SW99 (and the .45ACP version, SW45). As I was used to the size of those combat caliber handguns, the sight of such a down-sized Walther brought a smile to my face. It looked like it would fit my son perfectly. Preliminary handling by him at that time supported by belief, so we bought it and took it home. TO AND FOR PEACE KEEPERS OF THE MILITARY AND ALL LAW ENFORCEMENT AT ALL LEVELS AND ALL OF THOSE IN THEIR SUPPORT SYSTEMS AND ALL WHO CARE ABOUT THEM AND THEIR WELFARE.
LIFE IS ARBITRARY AND CANNOT BE AVOIDED..OUR COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF IS MERCIFUL TO US, HE MAKES PROVISION WHEN WE REQUEST IT AS WE ARE INSTRUCTED TO DO!THE LAW "Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105 (NAS) You have to KNOW the law in order to enforce it. You can't just go out there and make up your own statutes as you go along! There is a system of already determined laws in place that guide your decisions as you enforce the law. Let's look at spiritual things from a similar perspective. If you believe in God, then you believe that what God says is LAW (spiritual law). Just as you cannot enforce the laws of our land without knowledge of what they are, you cannot implement the laws of God in your life if you don't know what they are. So you need to spend time finding out what God says! The Bible contains God's words, His guidelines for our lives. It is meant to be referred to time and time again so that we can obtain answers and guidance in our everyday lives! We would be foolish to think we can all just make up our own rules for life without any consideration given to God or others! Our Creator has already set up the guidelines that will bring us the best outcomes! Just as the laws of the land are intended to maintain peace and order, and to ensure freedom and happiness for citizens, God designed His spiritual laws to bring peace, order, freedom and happiness to our lives! Get into the Bible and really get to KNOW what God has to say about your life!http://www.blackwaterusa.com/btw2005/articles/080805chaplain.html
