OP-ED from Fayettville Observer

Roy H. Adams, Jr.
CEO/818 Group, Inc.
h2>OP-ED Fayetteville Observer
The sad news of a suicide bombing that took the life of two members of a Fayetteville security company hit home. Just one week prior to the bombing these same brave men were escorting my business partner and me around Baghdad. We were there working on some business opportunities with the security company as well as working with some Iraqi businessmen.
We spent 5 days with the security company personnel meeting with the Iraqis and also with a Russian engineering firm. Business opportunities are abundant in Iraq but the danger is always present. This latest bombing will not deter our commitment to proceed working with businesses in Iraq. As a matter of fact, this makes us more determined to help bring stability to the country.

Spirituality or Intuition? BOTH

By: Frank Borelli
(Alternate title: "May The Force Be With... The Police?"
Dick Marcinko, in his book called "Rogue Warrior" describes an incident where he was on a combat patrol and for an unknown reason he dropped to the ground just as enemy fire opened up on his position. As he describes the experience it's very clear that he was not at the time, and to the date of that writing, still not aware of why he dropped at that moment. But doing so saved his life.
I've had conversation with another warrior who describes an experience where he was standing on a front porch enjoying a sunrise when someone snuck up behind him. He clearly states that the person never made any sound but for some reason - in some way - the warrior knew that he was being approached. He even went so far as to address the individual without even turning around to confirm his "feeling". He knew - for sure and certain - that the person was there; he knew who it was; and knew that the person was approaching him in a sneaky fashion. I withhold the name of that warrior only because I don't have his permission to use it here.

Traffic accidents top risk for police; Wrecks passed guns last year as the leading cause of officers' deaths in the nation
On a dark stretch of U.S. 290 early one morning last fall, Prairie View police officer Christopher Sobieski sat in his patrol car finishing up his report after a routine traffic stop.
Moments later, at 3:15 a.m., a pickup driven at an estimated 90 mph by an alleged drunken driver slammed into Sobieski's Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, igniting a gas tank fire that burned the officer's body beyond recognition.

FRANKS REVIEW

FN Five-seveN Pistol

By: Frank Borelli, 23 May 2005
So I was at the range a couple weeks ago when my cell phone rang and a friend of mine says, "Hey; I got this new pistol I need to put some rounds through. Is it okay if I come down?" "Of course," I reply. After all, this guy was one of my groomsmen and saved my hide more times than I remember on the street. He's always welcome on my range. He shows up about a half-hour later with a handgun I'd hear about and seen at expos, but not one that I'd ever fired.

The pistol (in case you couldn't have guessed from the title) was the FN Five-seveN 5.7mm semi-automatic pistol. After clearing the firing line we put it through some quick paces and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Had I the dollars in my "gun fund" to spend, I'd have been off to purchase one post-haste. Then I realized that I wouldn't be able to carry it on or off-duty anyway, so it would be nothing more than a collection piece in my gun safe. This pistol is definitely not meant to be a collection piece.

n., act of coming upon unawares; astonishment; unexpected event, piece of news,

Surprise is often part of my life because of the nature of my primary mission...
that of Police Chaplain/Clergyman/Police Officer/Chaplain Director. Most of the
surprises I receive are enjoyable and I will dwell on those in the body of this
message.

First I will dwell upon unpleasant surprises that happened to others and not to me.
