**FROM THE EDITOR:** |
Morning,
As many of you know Blackwater professionals were attacked last week in Iraq. We are devastated by the loss of our friends, They were true American patriots and heroes who were performing a mission that is critical to the success of the coalition efforts to secure peace and freedom in Iraq.
It is hard to convey in words how brave and unselfish these men were to risk their lives day in and day out to protect the lives of others in perhaps the most dangerous place in the world. Our heartfelt gratitude and prayers go out to the families of those seven men who were killed in these terrorist attacks. Their dedication to the United States through their prior service in the armed forces, law enforcement and with Blackwater will never be forgotten.
We appreciate the restraint and respect the majority of the media has shown to the family members of the victims and we sincerely hope they will keep in mind the tremendous loss they have suffered.
Sincerely,
Gary Jackson
President

Jihad comes to Small Town, USA
By Laura Mansfield

It happened again this week. I came out of the office to find a flyer under my windshield wipers inviting me to a special informational presentation on God and family values, and how to bring them back to the forefront in America.
I'm a parent so the flyer caught my interest. But as an analyst for the Northeast Intelligence Network, my eyes were riveted to the address on the flyer: The session was being held at a nearby mosque.
Curiosity got the better of me, and I decided it would be a good time for some onsite investigations of the mosque. In order to not attract undue attention, I dressed conservatively, wearing a navy jumper with a long sleeve white blouse, and low heels. I debated whether or not to put on a hijab (head scarf) then decided not to - after all, I was going to "learn," not to pretend I was a Muslim.

These are the remarks of Chris Taylor, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, Blackwater USA while speaking at George Washington University Law School, January 28, 2005.
National and global security challenges demand innovative and flexible solutions to be successful in the war on terror. Using the right tool for the right job is paramount in defeating those who would prey on the defenseless and use extremist ideologies to instill fear and stifle free voices.
Blackwater was founded in 1997 from a clear vision developed from an understanding of the need for innovative, flexible training and security solutions in support of freedom and democracy everywhere.

Child Kidnapping: Missed Opportunities
I have watched and read in frustration as one child after another is kidnapped from their home. Well-intentioned people show up by the carload and offer to search for the child. They are frustrated too. They want to help. Flyers are distributed, and posters are posted. Soon a search of the neighborhood is underway, and searchers begin a grid search of neighboring wooded areas and fields. Unfortunately, recent cases have proven the ineffectiveness of these actions. They make the searchers and the victim's family feel better, but they contribute little to the successful resolution of the case.
What other options are available? What else can Law Enforcement do to respond more effectively to kidnappings and missing children? http://www.blackwaterusa.com/btw2005/articles/042805child.html

A federal air marshal on Thursday sued Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to block government rules that prevent him from speaking out about possible security lapses.

American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, claims the rules infringe on Frank Terreri's free speech rights.

Customs chief touts inspections
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Robert Bonner came to Miami to promote his agency's twin aims to speed up cargo shipments and protect the nation's security. The perception that cargo inspections at U.S. seaports are not a high priority after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks was merely an ''urban myth,'' Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Robert Bonner said Thursday in Miami.
During a visit to a government-sponsored business conference, he touted a voluntary public-private program designed to speed up commercial imports and safeguard the nation from threats entering the country through commercial shipping operations.

Alcohol testing on rise at high school events
It was getting so few teachers at Westwood High School in suburban Boston wanted to chaperone school dances. There were drunken quarrels and dramas. At one school event, a student was rushed to the hospital with alcohol poisoning.
"It's a drag to deal with it," one teacher told assistant principal Emily Parks. And that's how she and other school administrators were feeling, too. "It's frankly kind of frightening when you have students who've had enough to drink that it's presenting a safety problem," Parks says.

Rethinking Ground Zero
READERS' OPINIONS
Three and a half years after the attack on Lower Manhattan, too many of the elaborate and even inspiring plans for rebuilding seem frozen on paper. That is particularly true for the building that the world most connects with the idea of rebirth at the World Trade Center site: Gov. George Pataki's Freedom Tower.

Bombings in Tikrit, Baghdad kill 21
TIKRIT, Iraq - (KRT) - Sgt. Anthony Ramos picked himself off the ground and fired a full magazine at the corner where Sunday morning's second suicide car bomber had come from, in case there were more.
Then he sank to his knees, a heavy metal fragment lodged in his elbow guard, his breath stolen by the blast, and a second American soldier sprinted up the block to pull him to safety by a strap on his vest.

Impostors posing as hospital inspectors
FBI investigating string of cases in Boston, Detroit, Los Angeles
Federal authorities are looking into three closely bunched incidents in which people posing as inspectors were caught nosing around hospitals in Boston, Detroit and Los Angeles.
No arrests have been made and there is no evidence to suggest the cases are linked or there is a tie to terror groups, federal officials said.
"We do not possess any specific intelligence that there is a terrorism nexus to these reports," Homeland Security spokeswoman Kathleen Montgomery said Friday.
