Blackwater Security Consulting
Supporting President Bush's Global War on Terrorism
Well, the Presidential elections are over, the masses spoke, the liberals are lined up at health clinics receiving treatment for Post Election Selection Trauma, and President Bush's war on terror will continue to move forward for the next four years.
Our military is doing a fabulous job in fighting the war on terrorism as is apparent by the results of the most recent victory in the Battle of Fallujah. As Iraq continues to become more stable the Department of State will be sending in more U.S. Government Officials to assist Iraq in becoming a democracy. Even though the majority of Iraqis want democracy there will still be those terrorist who do not, and they are a high-threat to the safety of our Officials. These Officials need professional protection and the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security has chosen and contracted Blackwater Security Consulting to assist their organization in providing that protection.
How can you get involved in stabilizing Iraq and supporting the President's war on terrorism? Answer - Protective Security Specialist (PSS). Blackwater Security Consulting is providing qualified (see BSC's High-Threat Protection webpage for requirements) and trained PSS and PSS/Medics to the U.S Department of State, Bureau for Diplomatic Security for the purpose of conducting protective security operations in Iraq.
Pre-deployment training classes are FILLED throughout the remaining of the year. Our Operations Support Unit is now scheduling candidates for early 2005 classes. If you're interested in this sector of the anti-terrorism field now is the time to join Blackwater. To submit a resume and become a PSS Independent Contractor with BSC's High-Threat Protection team, apply to Blackwater Employment and Resource Systems (BEARS): http://bsc.blackwaterusa.com/recruit.htm

BLACKWATER K-9
During the week of November 8 - 12, Blackwater K-9 conducted the Five Day Tactical K-9 Course. Fourteen students came from police departments located in South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Federal law enforcement officers were also in attendance. Based on the critiques submitted at the end of the week the course was a resounding success. The officers commented that there was little down time, they were worked hard and were pushed to their limits. The instructors were very positive and gave 100% both physically and mentally to the student's successful understanding and completion of the course. Blackwater K-9 will be scheduling the presentation of this course four times in the upcoming year.

Teaching Intelligence: Getting Started

by John Macartney
College courses on the CIA and/or intelligence were non-existent when I was an undergraduate back in the 1950's, and the same was true when I went to graduate school in the 1970's. Today, however, courses on the CIA and intelligence abound in this country and, to a lesser extent, abroad. Since most of us in today's professorate never took courses on intelligence as students, there is some question of where to start. That's the subject of this paper.

Shotgun Ammunition Assessment and Selection For Law Enforcement

By Chris Epperson
One of the greatest attributes of the police shotgun is the diverse ammunition available for the weapon. The operator can select from lethal to less lethal rounds, breeching rounds to distraction devices. Depending on the supplier you use the only limit is the imagination. There are rounds, which disperse powdered magnesium into the air and ignite it, creating what is advertised as a 300' fireball. Even large municipal departments such as Los Angeles police use starburst rounds fired into the ceiling of a room during high-risk entries to create an alternate distraction in cases where flash-bangs may not be practical. Even blanks fired from a 12ga. Shotgun can be used to safely remove glass from windows.

The False Surrender: Another "New" Insurgent Tactic??

Martin D. Topper, Ph.D.

I saw a seemingly "new" insurgent tactic in a video news clip from Al-Fallujah today. This probably is a very old ruse in insurgencies, and it may have been used by insurgents in the Middle East elsewhere during the past couple of years. However, it was new to me and, given that it seemed to be very well-staged, I thought commenting on it might be of use to some of use to others.

New Video Game Recreates Kennedy Assassination
A new video game to be released on Monday allows players to simulate the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy.

Good Samaritan Used Wrestling Move To Subdue Suspect
Valley Wrestler Helped Officers Arrest Leroy Roberts

When Omaha police tracked down and tried to apprehend a man wanted for robbery and sexual assault Wednesday, a citizen stepped in to help. Leroy "Tony" Roberts Jr., 44, was arrested after an officer recognized his vehicle Wednesday near a public telephone at 2605 S. 160th St. in the parking lot of a BP Amoco station. He was suspected of two robberies in Omaha -- one at a restaurant and one at a liquor store -- and may be the man who robbed and sexually assaulted a clerk at a Bellevue GNC store. Changing of the Guard: A Special Relationship
Condoleezza Rice: She's got one attribute Colin Powell can't match-a tight tie to the president, which will be a source of power at State
She thought she was heading to a casual dinner to celebrate her 50th birthday with some friends at a Yuppie restaurant in northwest Washington. But when her limo turned in to the British Embassy's driveway last week, Condoleezza Rice experienced an unusual moment of confusion. Greeted by the tuxedo-clad ambassador, Sir David Manning, Rice could only sputter, "David, why are you dressed in black tie?" Her answer was waiting inside, where 120 friends were enjoying a rare secret kept from the president's ultradiscreet national-security adviser. Rice was stunned.

U.S.: 1,450 detained from Fallujah offensive
American forces conduct raid on 'high value target'

The U.S. military said that Iraqi and U.S. forces have detained more than 1,450 people in connection with the Fallujah offensive. More than 400 detainees have already been released after being deemed to be non-combatants.
Elsewhere, U.S. forces conducted a raid to capture a "high value target" associated with Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in an area northwest of Baghdad, a U.S. spokesman said Sunday. Three people were detained, 1st Lt. Lyle Gilbert said, though it was unclear whether any of those arrested was the target that U.S. forces were seeking.

U.S., Afghan forces kill 4, hold 5, in raid
Arab fighters among those killed, U.S. military says

Several Arab fighters were among four militants killed and others captured in raids by U.S.-led forces on al-Qaida-linked compounds in eastern Afghanistan this weekend, the U.S. military said on Sunday.
The raids took place on Saturday and Sunday in the eastern province of Nangarhar in the vicinity of the provincial capital Jalalabad, a statement from the U.S. military said.

Fallujah's empty promise
True to guerrilla form, the insurgents faded away

As battles go, Fallujah has been a big disappointment to the U.S. military, which had wanted to draw the Iraqi insurgents into a cataclysmic mistake: a "fair" fight. Not that any officer relished the prospect of a Stalingrad- or Hue-like street-to-street, house-to-house blood-letting. But the alternative has even less to recommend it: a continuing series of roadside bombings and mortar and grenade ambushes that bleed American forces and frustrate efforts to secure Iraq ahead of January's elections.

Don't Leave Home Without It II: Equipment Inventory

Last week we took a look at what the properly equipped law enforcement officer should carry on his (or her) gunbelt. This week we're going to look at a basic load-out for the AVERAGE soldier. The items listed are those that my experience has taught me (or common sense demands) a soldier should have any time they are sent into the field. Naturally, because the soldier often has to operate farther from support and in much harsher environments, the list is longer.

THANKSGIVING...

"The first Thanksgiving days were harvest festivals, or days of thanking
God for
plentiful crops. For this reason the holiday still takes place in the
fall after the
crops are gathered....

The first American Thanksgiving was celebrated less than a year after the
Plymouth
colonist had settled the new land. The first dreadful winter in
Massachusetts had
killed nearly half of the members of the colony. But new hope grew in
the summer
of 1621. The corn harvest brought rejoicing. Governor William Bradford
decreed
that a three day feast be held. Indians brought wild turkeys and
venison. The
colonists brought geese, ducks and fish. The meat was served with
journey cake,
corn meal bread with nuts, and succotash. The meal was served on big
tables
outdoors.
