| QUOTE FOR THE WEEK |
"The one weapon every man, soldier, sailor, or airman--should be able to use effectively is the rifle. It is always his weapon of personal safety in an emergency, and for many it is the primary weapon of offence and defense. Expertness in its use cannot be over emphasized."Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953 Governors Conference

Muslim on Muslim Violence: What Drives It?by Salim MansurSince Samuel Huntington's widely read Foreign Affairs's essay, published in the summer 1993 issue of the journal, the idea of "the clash of civilizations" has come to be the most handy explanation of the troubled relationship between the Muslim world and the West. Huntington's phrase, "Islam has bloody borders," was provocative and yet not inaccurate. Islamic or, more appropriately, Muslim militancy has fuelled a mindless and bigoted conflict, civilizational in nature, that sort of peaked with the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington on September 11, 2001. http://www.blackwaterusa.com/btw2004/articles/0712muslim.pdf Statement for Secretary Tom Ridge U.S. Department of Homeland SecurityAt a news conference Thursday, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said intelligence "about Al Qaeda's intentions" to attack the United States this year "was credible, even if it lacked specifics. This Research in Brief examines the rise of Federal-local collaboration, the various types of collaborations such as task forces and grant-funded programs, and the advantages collaboration offers both local and Federal authorities. Despite some observers' concerns about the "federalization of crime," most partnerships have been characterized by restraint, careful coordination, and shared operational leadership. Researchers found that collaboration has become institutionalized in many U.S. cities and is likely to expand in the future.http://www.ncjrs.org/txtfiles1/nij/197040.txt

| FRANKS REVIEW |
Laser Grips by Crimson TraceWhile I'm a fan of laser and light accessories for firearms, I prefer those designs that have a minimal affect on the external dimensions of the weapon. With shoulder-fired weapons this isn't as much of an issue. With pistols, additions often mean different holsters and restricted options. Not much can be done about this where flashlights are concerned. It's near impossible to create a flashlight that produces a practical amount of light but doesn't affect the outside dimensions of the pistol. Lasers are easier: and Crimson Trace makes a laser aiming device that doesn't affect the external dimensions of the pistol at all. http://www.blackwaterusa.com/btw2004/articles/0712frank.html
